Explore the history of sex work, legal frameworks, and the impact of FOSTA-SESTA in this 90-minute course. Learn about the Nordic model, decriminalization, and the pivotal role of sex workers as advocates for their rights and marginalized communities. Sex Work Unveiled takes an intersectional approach, recognizing that sex work is shaped by race, gender, disability, immigration status, and class. The training examines how colonialism and white supremacy have influenced sex work laws, disproportionately impacting BIPOC, trans, and disabled workers. It explores cultural stigma, economic disparities, and legal frameworks like the Nordic Model and FOSTA-SESTA, highlighting their real-world consequences. Centering the voices of sex workers, the course underscores their role in advocacy movements and provides harm reduction strategies tailored to diverse communities. Through historical context, legal analysis, and lived experiences, this training offers a nuanced, culturally informed perspective on sex work.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the historical context of sex work including its ancient roots, the impact of colonialism and imperialism, and the rise of modern sex work.
  • Identify the diverse range of individuals who engage in sex work, including their motivations, challenges, and experiences.

  • Explain the concept of decriminalization and its benefits, including improved health and safety outcomes, reduced violence, and enhanced human rights.
  • Discuss the impact of FOSTA-SESTA on the sex industry, including its effects on online platforms, sex workers, and the fight against human trafficking.

  • Lilith Arabghani, ABS, CSE

    Lilithfoxx (she/her) is BIPOC, queer, kinky, and polyamorous Board-certified sexologist, AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator, consultant, coach, and proud former sex worker. She is a graduate of the Kinsey Institute’s Human Sexuality Intensive program, certified by Johns Hopkins University in psychological first aid, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health. Her work focuses on the intersectionality of marginalized identities, alternative sexuality, and social justice. Follow Lilith at @TheLilithFoxx

  • Cady Moore, MPH, CSE

    Cady Moore (she/her), MPH, CSE, is a is a queer, disabled, kinky, and polyamorous AASECT-certified sexuality educator, consultant, coach and former sex worker. She empowers people to live their most pleasurable lives and is dedicated to perpetuating healthy and positive messages about sexuality. She specializes in vulvovaginal wellness, menstrual health, pleasure exploration and communication, and non-monogamous dating and relationships. For nearly a decade, Cady has been teaching groups of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds. Follow Cady at @ageofsexploration.

Each professional is responsible for the individual requirements as stipulated by his/her licensing agency. Please contact your individual licensing board/regulatory agency to review continuing education requirements for licensure renewal.

Grievance

1. The person with a grievance will first try to informally resolve their grievance by contacting the Event Director, Molly Adler with the issue concerning the training, its delivery, the evaluation method, or technological issue. 

2. If the aggrieved person is not satisfied with the resolution through informal means, the aggrieved person shall put their grievance in writing to the Event Director, Molly Adler.

3. Event Director Molly Adler will then find fair methods of resolving the grievance and offer ideas for resolution.

4. If the aggrieved person is not satisfied with the solutions put forth, then they will be directed to put their grievance in writing and contact the appropriate organization, e.g. AASECT or state in which training has been provided. The appropriate AASECT personnel can be reached at ce@aasect.org.
